NorSea Group is "Company of the Year" 2013
On Thursday evening NorSea Group was named the Stavanger region's "Company of the Year" for 2013. The jury described the winner as a cornerstone company exhibiting stable growth, healthy profitability, and extensive corporate community involvement.
The honour of "Company of the Year" is awarded jointly by the Stavanger Chamber of Commerce and Handelsbanken, and is one of the most prestigious business awards in our region. This year it was presented for the 27th time. The aim of the award is to stimulate company culture and raise the status of the business community in the eyes of both the region's population and the public authorities. The award criteria are that the company has its centre of activity in the Stavanger region, that it has exhibited a stable level of activity for a period of years, and that it has exhibited outstanding performance in its field during the last year or last couple of years.
The jury's citation
This year's jury consisted of Chair Steinar Aasland from Stream AS, Svein Arild Holmen from Stavanger Municipality, Geir Høiland from IKM Gruppen AS, Harald Minge from the Stavanger Chamber of Commerce, Ole Henry Slette from Handelsbanken, and Njål Østerhus from Øster Hus AS.
The jury's citation includes the following statement;
"The company was founded in 1965, and is fast approaching its 50th anniversary. We are talking about a cornerstone company of considerable size in the Stavanger region, although it also holds a leading position in Norway as a whole. The company has gradually developed from a property company into a comprehensive provider of supply and logistics services, and an operator of offshore bases and port facilities. The company's activities also include supply ship operation. Over many years the company has accumulated extensive experience in the provision of services to demanding oil and gas sector clients working on the Norwegian continental shelf. In this market, only the best is good enough!
This year's winner has exhibited stable growth and healthy profitability for many years, and in 2012 had a turnover of approx. NOK 2.5 billion, and showed a pre-tax profit of approx. NOK 350 million. Today, the company employs about 600 people, but more growth is anticipated and it is currently recruiting.
The company has its head office in Tananger and is an active promoter of the expansion of the port at Risavika as one of the region's most important logistics hubs. This company exhibits extensive corporate community involvement and made a significant contribution when the Chamber of Commerce launched its voluntary million kroner initiative in Tananger to pre-finance planning of the "Transportkorridor Vest" road project.”
The award was presented at Rosenkildehuset, the offices of the Chamber of Commerce, to NorSea's CEO John E. Stangeland, by Mayor of Stavanger Christine Sagen Helgø.
-This is a very nice recognition for the company, but it is first and foremost an award that goes to our many loyal, creative and enthusiastic employees who for decades have done an outstanding job for the company, says a proud Stangeland.
In good company
The award was inaugurated in 1987 as "Stavanger Company of the Year", but has been called "Company of the Year" since 2002.
